Vocabriq AI is a reading, vocabulary, writing, pronunciation, and language-learning app. Build 11 is designed around local storage, Apple platform services, and an optional Advanced Cloud AI capability that requires explicit permission before any external AI request. This policy explains what the app handles and the choices available to you.

Information stored on your device

Vocabriq stores learning progress, review state, preferences, selected voices, saved words, recent Word Guide searches, appearance choices, Advanced Cloud AI consent preference, and any Book Snapshot summary you choose to save on your device. Speech-fallback preferences and other settings may also use local app storage. Word-of-the-Day material and lexical resources are bundled with the app. Build 11 does not provide a Vocabriq account or login system.

Apple Intelligence and optional Advanced Cloud AI

Build 11 uses Apple Foundation Models on supported devices for standard generative AI features such as AI learning assistance and Help & AI Support. Those on-device requests stay on the device when Apple Foundation Models are used.

Build 11 also contains an optional Advanced Cloud AI path for harder questions. Vocabriq does not send anything to OpenAI unless you first choose Allow OpenAI Processing. If you grant that permission and the feature is configured in a released build, Vocabriq may send only the question you submit, your selected learning language, and a bounded feature label through a Vocabriq-owned HTTPS service to the OpenAI API to generate the requested response. The app is designed not to include your learning history, mastery, learner profile, photos, book scans, device identifiers, subscription state, app diagnostics, or unrelated conversations in that request. You can turn Advanced Cloud AI off again in Help & AI Support.

The submitted Build 11 configuration does not include a configured Advanced Cloud AI server endpoint. In this Build 11, Advanced Cloud AI therefore reports that it is not configured and does not send learner prompts to OpenAI. If a later released build enables that endpoint, the explicit-permission and data-minimization rules above apply. OpenAI states that API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default unless the API customer explicitly opts in to data sharing.

Apple Intelligence availability depends on your device, language, region, model readiness, and Apple Intelligence settings. If on-device AI is unavailable, Vocabriq uses local non-generative guidance where available or reports that the feature is unavailable; the submitted Build 11 does not silently route those requests to OpenAI.

Microphone and speech practice

Vocabriq requests microphone and Speech Recognition permission only when you start pronunciation, greeting, word, sentence, or conversation speaking practice. The app does not use the microphone in the background and does not store raw microphone audio. Read Aloud uses Apple speech synthesis and does not require microphone permission.

Vocabriq first attempts on-device speech recognition where supported. If a same-language on-device recognizer is not available, you may choose to turn on Apple Speech fallback in Voice Settings. That fallback is off by default and can be turned off at any time. When it is enabled and used, Apple may process speech to provide recognition or transcription under Apple’s applicable terms and privacy practices. Vocabriq uses the recognized text to evaluate the practice attempt and may store local learning evidence, not the raw audio.

Camera, photos, and printed text

Word Camera and Book Snapshot request camera or photo-library access only when you choose those features. Apple Vision processes selected images for text recognition. Vocabriq does not upload camera frames, selected page images, or recognized Book Snapshot text to the Advanced Cloud AI request path in Build 11, and images are not retained by Vocabriq by default. Word Camera saves only items you deliberately save, such as a verified word or sense, together with local practice information.

Purchases

Premium subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. Vocabriq receives the transaction and entitlement information needed to determine Premium access but does not receive your full payment-card details. Subscription management, billing, and refund controls are provided by Apple.

Developer data collection, analytics, advertising, and tracking

For the submitted Build 11 configuration, Vocabriq does not send learner prompts, learning history, recognized text, camera images, Book Snapshot text, or speech recordings to a Vocabriq-operated analytics, advertising, or account service. The Advanced Cloud AI server endpoint is not configured in this Build 11, so the app does not send learner prompts to OpenAI in this submitted build. Vocabriq does not use advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking and does not include a third-party advertising or analytics SDK in this release.

Apple may process information when you use Apple services such as StoreKit, Speech Recognition, Apple Intelligence/Foundation Models, camera/photo permissions, or other system services. Apple’s own collection is governed by Apple’s terms and privacy practices. Vocabriq’s App Privacy disclosure describes data collected by the developer, not data collected independently by Apple.

Retention and your choices

Local learning data and preferences may remain on your device until you reset learning progress, delete applicable app data, or remove the app. You can manage microphone, Speech Recognition, camera, and photo-library permissions in iOS Settings. You can manage Apple Speech fallback, installed voices, and related guidance in Vocabriq Voice Settings. Advanced Cloud AI permission is stored locally and can be turned off in Help & AI Support.

Security

Vocabriq relies on iOS sandboxing and Apple platform protections for local app data. No storage or transmission method is completely risk-free, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed. The submitted Build 11 has no configured Advanced Cloud AI server endpoint; if that optional capability is enabled in a later released build, requests are designed to use HTTPS through a Vocabriq-owned service and remain subject to the explicit-permission and data-minimization rules described above.

Children and learning use

Vocabriq is an educational app. Parents or guardians should review device permissions, subscription controls, and Apple family settings as appropriate for a learner’s age and circumstances.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app’s released behavior changes. September 18, 2026: updated the policy for Build 11 to disclose the optional Advanced Cloud AI/OpenAI consent flow, the limited data eligible for an authorized request, and that the submitted Build 11 has no configured Advanced Cloud AI endpoint and therefore sends no learner prompts to OpenAI. September 16, 2026: restored the public Vocabriq policy route and documented the Apple Foundation Models behavior used by Build 6.
